5 Everyday Things You’re Doing Wrong: Number 1 Will Surprise You

It’s hard to believe that we can get so much wrong in this day and age, isn’t it?

With the internet at our disposal and the means to learn more accessible than they have ever been, could there really be everyday things you’re doing wrong?

You bet there are and we are here to educate you, note that these things are so basic you might hit yourself for getting them wrong.

Everyday Things You’re Doing Wrong

1. Breathing

It’s weird to think that we have been breathing wrong, after all, it is one of the most natural things ever, seeing as we need it to be alive and all. Be rest assured that we are about to prove to you that it is one of the everyday things you’re doing wrong. It is true that we breathe at least 17,000 times a day, nevertheless, it is highly likely you may not quite have the technique in the bag.

Most people tend to breathe with the chest and here’s a small test to figure out if you are one of them. Just relax and take a deep breath right now, if you raised your shoulders and puffed your chest, you are definitely not doing it right. The muscle you are supposed to use to breath is your diaphragm and it is located just underneath the lungs.

Doing this correctly can help you relieve stress, lower your blood pressure and improve athletic performance by increasing stamina and reducing fatigue. So try a little ‘controlled breathing’ once in a while and you will surely get the hang of it.

2. Bathing

It just keeps getting ridiculous, doesn’t it? Well, this is true, this generation has become so obsessed with cleanliness that it’s being done all wrong. This is no excuse to go days and even weeks without washing off the grime, but there has to be a middle ground.

Bathing or showering too often may make you feel all free and squeaky clean, but it doesn’t do much for a layer of the skin called the horny layer or the stratum corneum, which is the outermost layer of the epidermis. Damaging this layer makes you susceptible to disease.

So, now are you convinced that this is one of the everyday things you’re doing wrong? Well, there’s more, water does not actually wash bacteria away, it just moves it around and it may even bring an avenue for more bacteria to be picked up. In addition to that, all the scrubbing may actually kill the good bacteria.

We are definitely not trying to make you swear off bathing, but having a day off to let your skin recover once in a while wouldn’t hurt.

3. Brushing Your Teeth

Most of you grew up being told to brush your teeth every day and in some cases brush after every meal, well here’s some news that will definitely cut you some slack. In actuality, brushing can be quite abrasive for the teeth and even more unhealthy, it wears down the tooth enamel and leaves it vulnerable to decay and deterioration.

No one needs to tell you twice that you should take care of your teeth, considering the fact that once you grow the permanent set, that’s the end. So, let us educate you, be sure to floss more than you brush, as that actually cleans your teeth and gets rid of the particles that may cause odour.

Also, stay away from hard toothbrushes. The process of cleaning your teeth is actually meant to be more of a tooth massage than tooth brushing, so focus on your gums more than your teeth. In addition to that, you are supposed to use only a dab of toothpaste, and you’re not supposed to rinse your mouth with water afterwards.

4. Sitting

At this point, you are probably wondering how much more of this ridiculousness we are going to dish, but hold on and digest what it is that we have to say. No matter how much you work out or do your stretches and yoga if you spend most hours of your day sitting, it is highly likely that this is one of the everyday things you’re doing wrong.

The straight-backed chairs we see everywhere today have been around for thousands of years but they were mostly used by prominent people, those are the humans who ended up with the back pains and complications, here’s why practically everyone has issues with their backs these days.

Our bodies are not designed for the right-angled support that these chairs give us because it ends up putting pressure on the spine, meanwhile, the abdominal muscles are meant to come into play too. When we sit on these chairs, we relax the abdominal muscles and give all the work to the spine. So, please take some of the pressure off by standing more often or leaning backless.

5. Drinking beer

It’s been a bit of a nightmare moving from point to point, so let’s dial it back a bit. The long necks of beer bottles are not just to make them look fancier, they actually serve a purpose. They are meant to be used to hold onto them, and though that may seem weird to you, here is the reason why.

We constantly generate body heat as long as we are alive, so to avoid heating up the beer too much with our hands, the more reasonable route would be to hold the neck of the bottle.

There’s so much more we are not doing right, but this is just enough to keep the nightmares at bay.
