Actor Dumi Masilela’s final episode as Sfiso Ngema on Rhythm City will be aired tonight with scenes on how he died.

After almost two months since the tragic death of the young actor, fans will get to bid a final farewell to his onscreen Rhythm City character, Sfiso Ngema who will also be killed in a similar way.

Producers of the e.tv soapie revealed last month that they have the family’s blessings to replicate the actor’s death on the show.

“After extensive consultation with the Masilela family‚ the producers of Rhythm City have decided to incorporate Dumi Masilela’s tragic death into the exit storyline of his character‚” read a statement.

The killing which happened during a botched hijacking in Tembisa in August will be replayed when the young actor’s Rhythm City character‚ Sifiso Ngema‚ is also killed in the soapie’s storyline tonight.

While the episode will serve as a platform to remove the character from the soapie, it will also highlight the amount of damage caused by violence that is sadly so prevalent in South Africa.

“The show’s producers decided to use Sifiso’s exit story as a way to pay tribute to Dumi’s work as an actor and to highlight the tragedy of unnecessary violence that plagues our cities‚” said show’s producer Yula Quinn.

Though tonight’s episode will mark Dumi Masilela’s last appearance on the soapie, there will be a special on-screen memorial service in his honour on the next episode on October 18. The episode will also feature Dumi’s birth mother Sabatha Magdeline Masilela and brother Thabani Masilela during the memorial.
