Drug Dealer Tried To Scare SAPS Away With Giant Pythons

The South Africa Police Service (SAPS) says slithery snakes cannot prevent it from fighting crimes. SAPS’ assertion follows an incident where a drug dealer tried to scare away its members with giant pythons.

As it happened, SAPS members patrolling around the CBD, at Hendrina got a tip-off that some fellow is dealing in drugs and that the drugs are hidden underneath snakes that he keeps at his house.

SAPS related that “members proceeded to the alleged drug dealer’s house and on arrival, asked the man to open the glass snake box so that they could search.

“The man confidently complied thinking that the police would be afraid of the snakes. Surprisingly and to the dismay of everyone, a female Constable got hold of two pythons shifting them so that they could be able to search that area.

“Ninety (90) pinches of nyaope were found at the premises. The man was then arrested and charged with possession of drugs,” added SAPS.

Also, members of the Trans-National Investigation Team based at the OR Tambo International Airport (ORTIA), intercepted and arrested a 34-year-old woman for allegedly dealing in drugs.

BuzzSouthAfrica learned that the arrest happened after members of the team conducted a routine search and discovered cocaine wrapped around her body weighing 2360 grams, with an estimated street value of R708 00-00.

The suspect was in transit to Angola from Sao Paulo, Brazil. And, will be appearing before the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

SAPS vowed to continue intercepting drugs before they find their way into our communities. As such, it called on communities to continue exposing those who engage in drug-related crimes.

“…drugs are destroying the very future of our society. Report any suspicious activities to your nearest police station or report crime anonymously to Crime Stop 08600 10111,” SAPS stated.
