Though the SABC confirmed that TV personality and Metro FM DJ Phat Joe was not on suspension this past weekend, several stories kept popping up regarding the reason why he suddenly left his show mid-air.
But no story transcends the one heard from the horse’s mouth as DJ Phat Joe spoke to TMG Entertainment this week‚ reassuring his troubled fans that he will be on-air this coming weekend as usual and that he does not have any problem whatsoever with the SABC to warrant a suspension.
“I was not suspended. I will be back on the show this Saturday‚” Phat Joe confirmed.
The sudden disappearance of the DJ over the weekend while the show had not ended led to several stories by some who sought answers to why he had to abandon the show.
However, the explanation he gave has no connection to the different stories circulating about his disappearance during the show. While some fans on the social media speculated that he had been suspended insisting that a video of him being yanked off-air was circulating on the internet‚ Joe says that the reason why he had to leave early was because he was not feeling too well.
“I was feeling sick and I had a live event in the evening. I had to sacrifice one or the other‚” he said.
This explanation backs up the statement by SABC’s spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago on Saturday that the station had not suspended Joe.
“It is not true that he has been suspended,” said SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago.
“He said during the show that he was not feeling well, he is right here with us in Durban.”
Fans may have capitalized on the fact that The DJ was not a stranger to disciplinary action, having been suspended by the station before.
