Did You Know Zamani Mbatha is Nomzamo Mbatha’s Brother? – Here’s Their Age Difference and More

Zamani Mbatha is fast becoming one of South Africa’s best actors even though he never studied acting professionally in college or an acting school. He was inspired and groomed by one of the best hands in the South African movie industry. Zamani came into the industry in 2017 just after high school and is the younger brother of two well-known talented South African actresses – Wendy and Nomzamo Mbatha.

His inspiration to become an actor was gotten from his sister, Nomzamo, a brand ambassador, renowned actress, motivational speaker, and one-time Forbes 30 under 30 nominees. Although his sister may have possibly placed a role in helping him get into the movie industry, he has proven that he rightly deserves a place in the industry with his outstanding talent.

Zamani Mbatha Is 7 Years Younger Than His Sister, Nomzamo Mbatha

Besides sharing the same surname and having some level of resemblance, Zamani Mbatha and Nomzamo Mbatha are actually siblings. And from the looks of it, the talent of acting flows in their family. Being the younger brother of a successful actress like Nomzamo Mbatha may seem like the dream of any young man of Zamani’s age, but in a real sense, it is capable of putting him under so much pressure.

Many people look up to him to act, and his sister to be as successful as she is, if not better. Despite not having an acting degree, he is already doing a great job, but probably not as awesome as his sister, who is seven years older than him and has been in the industry for about five years before he got in. While Zamani is 25 years old, having been born on April 7, 1998, Nomzamo was born on July 13, 1990, which makes her 33 years old.

Rather than allowing himself to get pressured by the people’s expectations and feel threatened by his sister’s success, Zamani looks up to her for inspiration. In an Instagram post with a concise caption, he took out time to give her the credit of grooming him.

Meet The Parents And Siblings Of Zamani Mbatha

Zamani Mbatha hails from a family of seven, and he has four siblings – a brother and three sisters. Sadly, one of his sisters, Clara, committed suicide in 2014. From the bond between the Mbatha siblings – Zamani, Nomzamo, Wendy, Siyanda Mbatha – you can tell that they were groomed to love and support each other. Although nothing much is known about what their father, Skuta Nxumalo, did for a living, he is said to have lost his life in 2007. On the other hand, their mother, Manatuku Nxumalo, was a teacher.

Zamani’s eldest sister, Wendy Mbatha, is also an actress and is popularly known for her role in District 9 (2009); he also gives credit to Wendy for being the one who taught him some of the things he knows today. His brother, Siyanda Mbatha, is not as popular as his other siblings and was born prematurely at 5 and half months. He has grown to become a handsome and strong young man. An architect, Siyanda, is also an ambassador for NCC Skincare products – a skincare line owned by their sister, Wendy.

His most famous sibling Nomzamo wears so many hats as a South African actress, brand ambassador, television personality, and human rights activist. The Accounting graduate from the University of Cape Town is popularly known for her role as Thandeka Zungu-Ndlovu in the South African TV series, Isibaya. Perhaps, her biggest role to date would be her feature on Hollywood blockbuster, Coming 2 America, where she worked alongside legendary American star actor Eddie Murphy. Nomzamo is also the first South African to become a representative of Neutrogena products.

Zamani Shares A Special Bond With Nomzamo

The Mbatha’s have worked together to make their surname renowned in South Africa and beyond. Together, the elder sisters have contributed to bringing their brothers to the limelight, and the males have gone on to create a domain for themselves.

Nomzamo Mbatha has built a wonderful relationship with all her siblings, and the bond between herself and Zamani is undeniable. On his 21st birthday in 2019, she took to Instagram to celebrate her brother with a long epistle describing how much value he adds to her life and how much she is proud of the man he is becoming.

On his part, Zamani never fails to give her credit as the one who groomed him, and from what we can see, she did a great job that she should be proud of.

Is Nandi Mbatha Related To Zamani Mbatha?

South African actress Nandi Mbatha who played naive Simlindile alongside Zamani Mbatha on Mzansi Magic’s Isithembiso, is wrongfully thought to be related to the latter by blood. The major reason for this assumption is their surname, and again, they connect so effortlessly alongside each other in the soapie where they play the role of lovers.

But, Nandi has since dismissed the speculation as she told Drum that she was not related in any way to Zamani, and the fact that they had the same surname was a mere coincidence.

Zamani Mbatha Got Into The Entertainment Industry Immediately After Secondary School

Zamani Mbatha was born on April 7, 1998, in KwaMashu, northwest of Durban, and attended Bechet High School and Holy Family College. He matriculated from high school in 2016, and the following year, he got into the industry. It is not clear whether or not his elder sister Nomzamo Mbatha pulled some strings to help him score a lead role in his very first television appearance.

He made his debut appearance on the popular South African telenovela Isithembiso, where he acted from 2017 to 2020. In 2020, he joined the cast of eTV’s popular telenovela Rhythm City, where he plays the recurring role of Pule Ndlovu. Zamani does not fail to deliver in all his scenes, and even if Nomzamo Mbatha helped him get his first acting role, he has proven that he is totally deserving of his place in the industry.

As of this writing, Zamani Mbatha is not known to have attended university or graduated from any. Probably, he is taking his time and has the intention of solidifying his name in the industry first before continuing with his education.

In 2017, he was nominated in the Rising Star category at the DSTV Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards. He still has so many years to be in the industry, and hopefully, on his next award nomination, he will come out at the top.

Is There A Woman In Zamani Mbatha’s Life?

So far, the only known women in Zamani Mbatha’s life are his sisters. He has never brought any lady forward as his significant other. Scrolling through his Instagram handle, the only ladies he puts forward are his sisters. Just like in the case of his academics, the young man may also be taking things slow.

Zamani Mbatha still has his career before him, and considering how talented he is, we can obviously expect to see more of him on the screens of our television. It is also hoped that one day, he would appear alongside his siblings in a movie or TV series.
