Masilo Elias Gafane: SAPS Launch Manhunt For Dangerous Criminal


South Africa Police Service (SAPS) says it has launched a manhunt for Masilo Elias Gafane; “a highly wanted and dangerous criminal.”

 SAPS Provincial Tracking Team in Limpopo wants the help of South African in tracking-down the 31-year-old male.

As learnt, Masilo Elias Gafaneis is wanted for a series of terrible crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, car hijacking and the possession of a suspected stolen vehicle to the possession of firearm and ammunition without a license.

According to SAPS, Masilo Elias Gafaneis and his co-suspects were terrorizing members of the communities in Letsitele outside Tzaneen, Jane Furse near Lebowakgomo, Westernburg near Polokwane and Lebowakgomo Policing areas between June 2015 and December 2016.

“In the Letsitele Policing area, along Mavele and Xihoko road, the suspects shot and killed Musa Xiluwa of Runnymade village during a car hijacking where they robbed him of his Mercedes-Benz sedan.

“…In Jane Furse at Bopedi Spar Complex, they robbed a security officer of a firearm and cash.

“…They were intercepted while they were en-route to go and commit a business robbery at the local meat market at Jane Furse plaza. They were arrested on 3 December 2016 at about 15:15 and an AK’ 47 rifle, pistol and ammunition were recovered,” SAPS narrated.

SAPS further narrated that Masilo Elias Gafane later appeared before the Nebo Magistrate Court and, was released on R4 000- 00 bail by the local Magistrate Court.

“The Investigation Team were not satisfied about the release of this suspect and they referred the matter to the High Court for review,” stated SAPS.

From our gatherings the High Court ruled that Gafane was not supposed to have been released. Thus a warrant of arrest was issued against Mr Gafane. But, he’s been on the run.
