According to reports, a Councillor mocked the ANC supporters who died in a bus crash. Needless to ask why, the mockery was meant to spite the ANC. But came-off as such instance a clown is honored to address an important gathering.
This is one of the many reasons politicians are despised all over the world. No matter the love they pledge, their actions often times, simply says they don’t give a damn.
To a large number of them, it’s always about politics. Every single event must be used to score a political point. They seemingly thrive in tragedies. Lamentable and dreadful happenings is always an ample opportunity for them to propagate their ideals.
As culled from a Times Live report, chaos erupted few minutes after a Nelson Mandela Bay council meeting commenced. It’s alleged that a United Democratic Movement (UDM) Councillor, Mongameli Bobani mocked the 11 ANC supporters who died in a bus crash.
As it happened, the chaos erupted when Councillor Mongameli Bobani who was dishing out his condolences to the relatives of the 11 ANC supporters remarked that “unfortunately they died on their way back from an empty stadium”.
His statement reportedly angered ANC Councillors who indicated that the UDM Councillor was lacking commonsense and must immediately tender an apology for his comment.
The ruling party Councillors screamed about Bobani making a joke about the dead. With deputy mayor, Bicks Ndoni pointing at Bobani screaming -“we wish to condemn Councillor Bobani for making a mockery of our people…The death of our people can never be made a mockery. He doesn’t even deserve to sit with us.”
BuzzSouthAfrica learnt that the Democratic Alliance (DA) and the Congress of the People (COPE) agreed that the UDM Councillor will have to apologize for his remark.
He refused to apologize leaving the council with no other option but to adjourn the meeting and allow the council leadership decide the disciplinary actions to be taken against the UDM Councillor.
