Award-winning comedienne Tumi Morake will be making a TV comeback on the small screens next month as a co-host on SABC 2’s new variety show Red Cake Not The Cooking Show.
Judging from what the name implies, the show is not about making delicious dishes in the kitchen or baking yummy red cakes. Instead, it’s a show that touches just about everything from games to comedy, and talk shows.
“It’s called red cake because the show has a little bit of everything. It is a game show, a features show, a comedy show, and a talk show. Really, it has everything in it just like one of those red cakes you would get in the township which is made up of a lot of different cakes,” Tumi said about her new job.
The comedienne who was once the host on Mzansi Magic’s popular reality show Our Perfect Wedding, said that she was excited about her TV comeback.
“I’m really excited to be part of such a great show. I was of course, nervous at first, but its a light-hearted show so I think that it will go well,” added Tumi.
The broadcaster announced the variety show at a press event in Johannesburg on Wednesday. Tumi will join forces with fellow comedian, award-winning Alan Committee who is no stranger to TV shows.
During the show, Tumi will challenge local celebrities to traditional games, before interviewing and featuring them.
Comedienne Tumi Morake is well known for starring in Skin (2008), Kota Life Crisis (2014) and Joburg (2007).
After reaching a new milestone in her career, award-winning comedienne Tumi Morake revealed that she will damn the consequences and celebrate the traditional way at her home in the suburbs. This was after Tumi made history last year as she walked away as the first female to be crowned Comic of the Year at the 6th annual Comics’ Choice Awards.
