Top Billing presenter Chris Jaftha has made it clear that he’s got Bonang’s back in the wake of backlashes from some angry Metro FM listeners who lambasted the TV personality recently.
The last couple of weeks have not been so smooth for Bonang. After coming out from an ugly feud with Ntsiki Mazwai following an alleged ‘leaked DMs’ scandal, she was severely condemned for telling one listener to speak English on radio.
Coming to the rescue, Chris Jaftha has come out in her defence, saying that “she’s misunderstood”. The Top Billing presenter who confessed that he’s always had a “soft spot” for Bonang said he’s got her back too.
“I’ve always had a soft spot for Bonang. From the get-go, she’s had my back,” he said in an interview. He added that because of her successful career, she’s loved and hated by many and often misunderstood.
“She’s misunderstood, I think, but if you’re doing something right, people are going to hate you and love you – so I dig her.”
Metro FM listeners recently called Bonang out on Twitter, accusing her of having “double standards” and a colonised mind. The whole drama unfolded after she asked one listener to speak English during her radio show this week.
Shortly after the incident, a fan took to Twitter to ask Bonang why callers to the show should be required to speak English. Her response compounded the whole issue when she said that “Metro FM is an English station”.

As a result, many of her followers pounced on her, accusing her of having double standards. But it seems that explanation didn’t sit well with many of her followers who took to the social media site to accuse B of having double standards.
A fan took it further by telling the presenter to decolonise her mind, with a reminder that we are in 2016 not 1948.
