A bucket list is a list of things a person intends to do before they ‘kick the bucket’. The list typically includes what the writer perceives as fun, exciting or out of his/her comfort zone – a compilation of experiences they wish to acquire throughout life.
However, the list doesn’t have to be grand or over the top; a bucket list can contain simple things like watching a meteor shower or watching Wicked on stage and still be exciting.
Never forget why you started. To make the most of a bucket list, don’t be too hung up on getting the deeds done. Instead, focus on the reason you decided to add that item to your bucket list and why you started the list in the first place – this will help you stay on course
Start a Bucket List
The first and foremost thing to do is to start the list; not just think about it or talk about but to do something about it. After all, actions speak louder than words. Fill the list with what you consider exciting or new territory for you, but most importantly the list has to be realistic and achievable. You’d only get frustrated and give up if you make a list of unachievable goals.
Do Something That Scares You
Sacred of heights? Bungee Jumping would make a great addition to your list. The most exciting part of having a list such as this is not only being able to face your fears but to conquer them as well. Doing something that scares you is also an excellent way to get over that fear.
Start A Business
While this doesn’t have to be your foremost source of income or take up your time, starting a business you’ve always wanted or a business doing something you love (either as a side job or full-time job) is definitely a worthy addition to your life.
Help A Person In Need
You could choose to join a charitable organization, or even give a warm meal or your old clothes to a homeless person. Maybe it’s helping that relative of yours that is always down on their luck but a definite good addition to your bucket list is helping someone that cannot return the favor. Nothing is more fulfilling than knowing you were the bright spot of someone’s day.
This is definitely a fun way to explore the natural surroundings around you. Not only is it positively challenging but the views are breathtaking. Meeting other hikers could mean becoming part of a new and down to earth community. Plus it’s good cardio.
Visit A Different Country
Visiting a different country, especially one with a different culture from yours is a good addition to your list especially because it lets you learn more about other cultures, understand them better and become more culturally rounded. You can even kill two birds with one stone by volunteering for a charity program abroad.
Be In Two Places At Once
While it may not seem like it, this is actually one of the easiest items on this list. The simplest way to do this is to go to the nearest border to you (town border, state, border or city border) and stand over it. Just Like this:
Start a New Hobby
Starting a new hobby is always a good idea especially as actively watching yourself transition from newbie to expert can be quite fulfilling. it is also a fun idea just seeing how far you can go to master a new hobby. Hobbies have many benefits.
Reconnect With An Old Friend
If there’s an old friend you’ve fallen out of touch with for no particular reason besides life getting in the way then it’s not a bad idea to reach out and make sure everything is going well with them. Catch up on old times and good memories. You can be a source of encouragement to them or they could be to you. It’s easier now than ever to get in touch thanks to Facebook.
Get A Makeover
If you’ve ever been curious about how you’d look with longer hair or shorter hair, in a certain style of clothes, or if you were slimmer or had or muscle/ Now is the time to get the answer to that. Never shy away from becoming who you want to be and the easiest place to start is looking the part. After all, you only live once.
