Olwethu Mlotshwa, who directed Somizi Mhlongo’s reality TV show Living The Dream With Somizi is now the new director of Bonang Matheba’s show, Being Bonang.

A new director was appointed for the show just a day after online reports revealed that July TV ratings shows that The media personality’s show didn’t rake in as much viewership as anticipated.

Notwithstanding the speculation that viewers didn’t show much love for the show, Olwethu said that the show is doing well despite the criticism, especially if you put some facts into consideration.

“From the numbers we have so far, Bonang’s show is doing very well, especially since it is in such a tough time slot. I have watched the reaction to the show closely and I think that the problem is that people have unrealistic expectations.

“They think that it will be the same Bonang they saw on Live Amp but Bonang is older and she is different,” Olwethu told TshisaLive.

Hopefully, the new director will effect a positive change to the show to help it rank higher.

Being Bonang has been compared to Somizi’s which has great ratings. While they are both reality shows about the life of both TV personalities, Olwethu says the comparison is unfair as the two shows are very different.

Recently released July TV ratings shows that Somizi Mhlongo’s reality show Living the Dream with Somizi on Mzansi Magic managed to attract 559 373 viewers. The show made it to the 15th place on DStv’s most watched list for July.
