The South African Communist Party (SACP) has made a shocking revelation about Hawks head Berning Ntlemeza. According to SACP, Ntlemeza has been using the investigation agency to get at communists.
On an appalling note, report has it that Ntlemeza has himself admitted that he has been using the Hawks to fight political agendas.
BuzzSouthAfrica learnt that SACP spokesperson Alex Mashilo made the scandalous revelation on Wednesday, relating that one of its leaders overheard Hawks head telling another person, “communists must be harassed” and that SACP North West secretary Madoda Sambatha would be next.
Ntlemeza also boasted that he now has a mandate to target communists – many believe that Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan’s case speaks more about the ‘plan’.
However, Mashilo promised they would not disclose where and when the information was garnered as the party intends to take the matter further.
“The conduct of the Hawks under Ntlemeza’s stewardship is increasingly leaving much to be desired, and indeed reflects politically motivated, factional and private agendas,” he added.
Mashilo said the party condemned Ntlemeza’s actions and would explore all avenues available to it to confront the abuse of state power.
Meanwhile, Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi has labelled SACP’s claims that they will soon arrest SACP North West secretary Madoda Sambatha all lies.
Mulaudszi said he wondered why SACP failed to reveal the name of the person who claimed to have overheard the conversation and challenged the SACP to open a case and present its evidence in court.
He thereafter urged the political party to rather table it’s “malicious accusations” to the office of retired Judge Essa Moosa, who was appointed in October 2013 to handle complaints against the Hawks.
It is pertinent to note that Hawks boss Berning Ntlemeza has reportedly been battling to have Finance Minsiter Pravin Gordhan arrested for allegedly spying on taxpayers when he was SARS commissioner.
The Hawks also demanded to know more from Gordhan about the establishment of the so-called ‘rogue unit’, which came into existence under his leadership.
Berning Ntlemeza In Court Battle
Ntlemeza on the other hand was involved in court battles with former Gauteng Hawks head Shadrack Sibiya and its suspended KwaZulu-Natal head Johan Booysen.
However, while many have expressed shock at the startling revelation, others vehemently called for Ntlemeza’s wings to be trimmed.
