Information from the South African Police Service (SAPS) has it that the Hawks (Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation) arrested a coup plotter planning to assassinate state capture beneficiaries.
It was in October 2016 that Hawks intercepted some communication material about the assassination plot. From our gatherings, various members from the cabinet, state owned entities and prominent South Africans were listed as targets.
The communication intercepted by Hawks investigators included various letters which were sent to selected companies to donate money that will fund the secret operation.
And, a total amount of R140 million was requested for the operation which listed 19 individuals as targets.
Adding that the name of the individuals will be revealed in court, SAPS related that Hawks acted upon the information they received and conducted undercover operations in Pretoria and Johannesburg to bust the individuals behind the plot.
The undercover operations as learnt, led to the arrest of a 23-year-old African male for the alleged plot to assassinate officials perceived as state capture beneficiaries.
According to SAPS, the suspect and a founder member of the Anti- State Capture Death Squad Alliance (ASCDSA) was arrested on the 26th April 2017 in Midrand.
“(He was arrested) while he was busy explaining to the donors how the assassination of state capture beneficiaries was going to be carried out by the undercover coup plot snipers.”
When a search was carried out at the suspect’s home, crime fighters gathered and confiscated “evidentiary proof” which aided further investigations.
SAPS further related that another group, the Anti-White Monopoly Capitalists Regime (AWMCG) surfaced during investigation and necessitated a two prong investigation approach.
“It was discovered that the AWMCG used the same operandi soliciting donations in order to assassinate senior government officials and other South African citizens.
“Four individuals were allegedly targeted for this operation (and) their names will also be revealed in court,” stated the police service.
The suspect will be dragged to Johannesburg Magistrate Court on Friday 28th April 2017. There, he will a conspiracy to commit murder and other charges.
SAPS said bail will be opposed to allow further investigation.
