Anele Mdoda Lashes Out At Audi SA – Where Is Caster’s Car?

Following a heated debate over Audi South Africa’s gift to Olympics gold medalist Wayde van Niekerkadio, Tv personality Anele Mdoda has taken aim at the company for not blessing Caster Semenya with a gift.

On Wednesday, Olympics gold medalist and world record breaker Wayde van Niekerk came home to a jaw-dropping surprise. In front of an excited crowd, Audi South Africa handed him the keys to a brand new Audi R8 worth R1.8 million. The brief ceremony took place at OR Tambo International airport where a mammoth crowd was already waiting for him.

Meanwhile, as news of Wayde’s gift emerged on social media, it quickly led to mixed reactions. While some people welcomed the idea, some others questioned why Caster didn’t get the same love. Apparently, the reference was on her recent accomplishments at the Rio Olympic games.

Anele’s reaction to the debate was to call out to Audi South Africa, asking – Where’s Caster’s car?

In response to her question, Audi SA explained that Wayde got the gift because he was already chosen to be an ambassador for the car. This was before he left to participate in the Olympic games. Wayde; Cameron van der Burgh and Anaso were all chosen to represent the company as ambassadors before the Olympics.

In addition, Audi went on to explain that the R1.8 million R8 was part of a deal it made with Wayde. They struck a deal that he would get the fancy wheels if he broke the world record. And he did. Caster, on the other hand, performed well at the games but did not break a record and is not an ambassador of the company.

Nevertheless, Anele Mdoda was not convinced with Audi’s explanation. She reiterated her point that women are often overlooked in sports while men get all the money and attention.
