A highly publicized rift between South African rappers, AKA and Anatii, appears to have been settled. The feud, which made headlines last year, saw two friends at loggerheads.
AKA accused Anatii of trying to charge him R80,000 for a beat. The accusation led to so many things including a petty spat between the two, Anatii threatening legal action against AKA and also for blurring his face out of artwork for their collaboration, The Saga.
Moreover, all hopes of any reconciliation between the two were lost after Anatii replaced AKA with Cassper Nyovest for a live performance of The Saga. Fans witnessed this at the SA Hip-Hop Awards.
However, it seems time and growing up has closed the rift between both rappers. Several pointers suggest that they have settled their beef and are back as friends.
In addition, AKA’s statement on Metro FM Thursday morning suggested that he’s no longer in a feud with Anatii. He also revealed that he even paid the rapper a visit in his studio.
“The other day I actually visited Anatii in his studio. Two days ago. And we had a well-documented rift,” he said.
Meanwhile, AKA is still entangled in a feud with his counterpart Cassper Nyovest. When asked whether he will ever work with Cassper on any level again, AKA responded:
“Things have to be organic. I just found that as I grow older I just don’t have it in my heart. You know that type of stuff takes a lot of energy. I’m not saying that we have to be best buddies but who knows, man? Never say never.”
His answer sure gives hope that maybe one day, the two rappers will kiss and make up. If not for anything, but for the sake of music.
