Though she didn’t disclose the exact date, actress Celeste Ntuli revealed that she will soon take a break from hit Mzansi Magic series Isibaya.
In her interview with Glen Lewis and Nina Hastie in the Expensive Breakfast Show on Touch HD, Celest confirmed that she would soon bid farewell to the drama series after four years.
“Yes shame, it is coming to an end a bit soon, and I’m going back to comedy, I’ll be doing comedy full time now.”
She admitted that it has been an incredible journey on the show. However, she felt the need to take a break from it to focus on other things. Apparently, it hasn’t been easy for the comedian and actress as she said that she often found it difficult to juggle the demands of Isibaya with her career as a comedian.
“When you want to do something else you need to take a bit of a break. The thing is: with acting the character comes with you. When people meet me at my shows they expect me to be Siphokazi (her Isibaya character),” she explains.
In fact, it wasn’t an easy decision to make and her family made it even more difficult.
“My mom threatened to disown me if I left Isibaya,” Celeste joked. The whole family sat her down to try and convince her to stay.
Notwithstanding, actress Celeste Ntuli will film with the soapie until the end of June before her nationwide comedy show in July. This means that fans will get to see her on screens until August.
Also, Celeste said she’s working with Isibaya producers to ensure that her character makes an exit that will appeal to viewers. After her exit, Celeste will now focus on her career as a comedian pending when she might return to the big screen.
