The University of Johannesburg is one of the biggest universities in South Africa. UJ online courses are carefully designed to make obtaining a university qualification quite easy and possible.   • A minimum Admissions Point Score (APS) of 28 is required for admission into this degree, with the following specifications: English with an APS of 4, Mathematics with an APS of 4, Mathematical Literacy is not accepted.
  • A certified academic record
  • A certified copy of the highest qualification obtained.

Basic computer skills:

  • Be able to operate your computer and perform common tasks.

1. Bachelor of Commerce in Accountancy

This course is best suitable for individuals who want to pursue a career as professionals in the broad fields of finance and accounting but who, owing to financial and geographical barriers, are unable to access contact education.

2. Bachelor of Human Resource Management

3. Advanced Diploma in Financial Markets

  • New/Old NQF Level 6 qualification with three years’ relevant work experience in financial markets OR

6. Advanced Diploma in People Performance Management

8. Bachelor of Education Honours in Education Leadership and Management

This course primarily focuses on research and aims to develop research capacity and academic scholarship.

Admission Requirements:

  • A four-year professional teaching degree on NQF level 7 OR
  • An appropriate Bachelor’s degree and a professional teaching qualification (on NQF level 7) OR
  • A four-year professional teaching qualification(s) as well as an Advanced Diploma in a cognate sub-field of Education (on NQF level 7). AND
  • A 65% minimum average for the preceding degree

Note the following:

  • Applicants with between 60% and 64% may be considered. Teaching and leadership experience will be taken into consideration.
  • Students who apply for this degree may undergo a selection process which can include an interview or written submission.
  • Applicants with 2-4 years’ classroom/field experience will be given preference in the selection process.
  • Applications from persons with equivalent qualifications will be considered by a constituted status committee in line with the University’s and Faculty’s regulation
  • Previous academic achievement and evidence of the necessary academic reading and writing skills to become a competent researcher of education leadership and management will be taken into account.

Requirements for consideration into a Master of Education in Education Management is one of the following:

  • Qualified teachers and education managers holding an NQF Level 8 BEd Honours degree with a research project component in Education, or a related discipline. Students with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education Leadership and Management will be considered if a research project component was completed in the Postgraduate Diploma. OR
  • A suitable professional Bachelor’s degree (NFQ Level 8) plus a teacher’s diploma/teaching qualification and work experience in the proposed field of specialization; Leadership and Management in Education. OR

  • An NQF Level 8 Honours Degree in Education, or a related equivalent qualification (e.g. Human Resource Development). OR
  • A suitable professional Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 8) plus a teacher’s diploma/teaching qualification and work experience in the proposed field of specialization; ICT in Education. OR
  • An appropriate NQF Level 8 Honours Degree and a teacher’s diploma/teaching qualification, plus work experience in the field of specialization; ICT in Education. OR
  • Prospective candidates may based on extensive and verifiable experience in the field of specialization; ICT in Education, apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL) within institutional policy guidelines. Their experience should be on the level and scope of NQF Level 8 within the discipline and should include appropriate research methodological knowledge and skills.

11. Master of Public Health

Amongst other things, students will be taught environmental health, occupational health, and epidemiological threats and risks.

Admission Requirements

  • A Health-related qualification at NQF Level 8 such as Environmental Health, Public Health, MbChB, Social Work, Physiotherapy, Nursing, or other related equivalent qualification
  • Non-South African students need to apply to SAQA for verification of the equivalence of the entry qualification; AND
  • An average of 65% for the NQF Level 8 qualification; AND
  • A minimum of five years’ work experience in the field of Public Health, Environmental Health, and/or Occupational Health and Safety, of which three years must be in a Management position.

Required Documentation:

  • A certified academic record and a certified copy of the highest qualification obtained.
  • An updated and detailed CV.
  • Evidence of NQF Level of highest qualification
  • Proof of work experience.
  • A motivation letter.
  • A general referee report from a colleague or a recommendation letter.
  • SAQA evaluation for non-South African qualifications

Ways To Make Payment For Any Of The UJ Online Courses

1. Credit Card

This is the best payment option. Students are advised to make payments using their credit card as it is the most effective.

2. Bank Deposit

This method is also effective. However, you must ensure that your names and student number are clearly written in block letters on the deposit slip if you make payment at an FNB branch. Do not forget to file the deposit documentation in a safe place.

If you encounter any problem like your name not reflecting, you can email [email protected] to submit an inquiry – just insert your student number as the email subject. Payments are made at any FNB branch to the UJ Tuition Fee account. Use your valid UJ student number as the reference.

3. Electronic Fund Transfers (EFT)

The ‘UJ FNB Tuition Fee’ account is available as a predefined beneficiary on the electronic platforms of all the major South African banks. To use this method, you must make the transfer 72 hours before the registration period closes to ensure that the payment reflects on your UJ student account.

EFTs made from outside the country’s borders may take even longer. Therefore, it is recommended that foreign students affect payment at least ten days before the registration period closes.

Note: Use your valid UJ student number as a reference.

4. ATM

For this option, use any FNB ATM that can accept cash. ATM payments will reflect on your UJ student account within 15 minutes.

How to navigate:

  • Select the cardless services option on the ATM.
  • Deposit the cash.
  • FNB Recipient Name – key in UJ and then space.
  • Select UJ Tuition Fee account.

5. Debit cards

Note: Debit cards (cards requiring a pin for the processing of your payment) cannot be used for online payments for any of the UJ online courses.

Is UJ Distance Learning The Same as Online Study?

It appears University of Johannesburg distance learning is the same as its online study. Their programs allow students to advance their careers while balancing personal obligations, and they are made accessible online.

  • Log onto the registration portal via ulink.uj.ac.za using your student number and password.
  •  If you do not have a password, click on create a password to continue.
  • Click on its iENABLER under administrative utilities.
  • Detailed instructions on how to use each option can be accessed by clicking on the blue question mark at each process.
  • Click on Registration to start the registration process.
  • Please verify your personal contact and address details.
  • Read the Academic Registration Rules or Agreement and click on I Accept to be able to continue with Online Registration.
  • Click on Submit Registration.
  • Enter qualification information and click on save and continue.
  • Select the module you want to add to your qualification and click on save and continue.
  • Verify the modules you want to add
  • Click on continue.

  • Enter your ID
  • Enter your password
  • Click on the “Login” button.
