The news was announced on air on Thursday afternoon during the afternoon show which is also hosted by the pair. Subsequently, Pearl expressed much excitement over the gig and has been responding to congratulatory messages from fans. Fans have already flooded Pearl’s Twitter mentions with congratulatory messages.

Every year, two hosts are picked to take up the reins at the awards ceremony. Bonang Matheba and Mo Flava hosted the event last year. And this year, it’s Pearl and Amon’s turn.

Everyone has been making guesses on who the hosts will be. Nonetheless, after much speculation from fans, SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago confirmed the news; “It is true, every year we change it around and this year it was their turn,” Kaizer confirmed.

In addition, Kaizer explained why Pearl and Amon were chosen to host this 2017 Metro FM Music Awards;

“They share a show on Metro FM and we wanted to take the synergy that they have and move it from radio to the event,” he added.

While the aim of the awards is to applaud musicians for their hard work through the year, we are particularly interested in the red carpet glam. Besides, the performances that will grace the stage are to make it a show to remember.

This year’s (16th edition) Metro FM Music Awards is themed ‘What’s Next Is All That Matters,’ taking its clue from last year’s theme, ‘Legends Don’t Stop, They Ask What’s Next’.
