Meryl Streep’s speech at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards ceremony impressed a lot of people but certainly not Trevor Noah.
The speech which has since gone viral saw the world applauding the passionate speech which the actress delivered while receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement. In her speech, she criticized Donald Trump and called for empathy in performances and “in real life.”
The actress used her lifetime achievement award acceptance speech to condemn the president-elect of the United States, urging Americans to hold the powerful accountable.
Subsequently, her speech went viral and dominated social media platforms and group discussions around the world. It was an impressive speech but not everyone was impressed. Certainly not the Daily Show host Trevor Noah.

Now Trevor is not concerned about Meryl Streep’s speech against Donald Trump at the Golden Globes this past weekend, instead, he’s calling the Hollywood veteran out for a reference she made in the speech.
During his Daily Show following the awards night, Trevor drew his audience’s attention to a part of the viral speech. In what could have been seen as an insignificant part of the heartwarming speech, Meryl Streep referenced football and mixed martial arts to prove her point.
Apparently, Trevor didn’t find that funny and didn’t waste time in telling his audience how much he disliked the comparison.
“I understand what Meryl Streep was trying to do, and I don’t know if I could have done better, but here’s the thing I feel like we could all learn as people, you don’t have to make your point by sh*tting on someone else’s thing, because a lot of people love football and the arts”.
Trevor ended the hilarious show by giving himself a self-proclaimed award.
