Idols SA Wooden Mic winner Mbishop Shezi and media icon Somizi treated us to a sidesplitting operatic duet at the season finale of Idols SA on Sunday.
The performance was hilarious and can have you rolling on the ground with laughter after watching it.
We first encountered Mbishop who effortlessly stole the hearts of many South Africans during his audition in the first episode of season 12.
The thirty-year-old student from KZN walked into the audition room looking dapper in his hip hop like attire ready to blow the judges off their feet.
Subsequently, he had the judges and viewers vibrating with laughter when he opted for a “classical” song. And by the time he was done with his attempt to become the next South Africa’s idol, tears of laughter were trickling down our eyes.
Though he didn’t win the singing competition, he was able to walk away with a wooden mic. Consequently, he also got an opportunity to share a stage with Somizi at the grand finale of the show.
Together, they put up a hilarious performance that seems more like a comic relief.

On a more serious note, it was a rigorous competition to fish out the Idols SA Season 12 winner. The competition eventually turned into a record-breaking season with over 83 million votes cast.
The grand finale of the singing competition took place at Carnival City in Brakpan, east of Johannesburg where Noma Khumalo was crowned as the Idols SA Season 12 winner.
Noma did not just win the competition, she also broke some records. She is reportedly the first woman in seven seasons to win the title. In addition, she is also the first black female to ever win the title.
We are hotly anticipating Noma’s debut album which starts recording within the next seven days.
