Musical artist L’vovo Derrango has joined the slew of SA celebs who heeded the call of the ancestors to become traditional healers.
Following a five-month training and spiritual journey, the musician was ushered into the world of sangomas. He was also honoured in a ceremony in KwaZulu-Natal attended by close friends and family.
Two weeks ago, L’vovo talked about undergoing a traditional ceremony. Nevertheless, he didn’t specify what the training will turn him into. Instead, he suggested we wait and see.
“I’m not talking about what the ceremony is for or what will be happening. You will have to wait and see. I have invited people and they will come and see what it is about. But that will be the first and the last time that I speak about it,” he said at the time.
Subsequently, L’vovo took to Instagram after the ceremony to share videos and pictures with his fans.

Meanwhile, there’s no indication that the artist is going to abandon his singing career to become a full-time traditional healer. From what his trainer Zanele Zuke said, the star had attended training because “he knew there were certain things which need attention.”
The trainer emphasized that the artist would not give up his career entirely to become a traditional healer.
“I feel humbled by the determination that L’vovo put towards the sessions. He had his mind on what he came here for. I’m honored to be the leader in L’vovo’s journey of being isangoma.”
“He’s still going to be the singer that he is. Nothing in his craft will change – but things will be different in his personal space,” his trainer added.
L’vovo Derrango also acknowledged that he will keep entertaining his fans, irrespective of his new status.
