Stop Wishing Mbeki Death, He’s Working For Africa

Don’t spread any Thabo Mbeki death story, the former President is alive and currently on a peace mission for Africa.

Thabo Mbeki Foundation has condemned reports claiming the death of the South African ex-president.

The foundation wailed that it’s still being bothered by entities requesting for information about Mbeki’s health status and whereabouts.

Mbeki Foundation said the worries over the former president’s health conditions follows a report from a “dubious website” claiming Mbeki died.

BuzzSouthAfrica traced one of such reports to one t1meslive. Its report which has been shared over eight thousand times on Facebook flagged a headline that read – “South Africa’s Ex-President Thabo Mbeki Dead At 74”.

With that, it reported that “Thabo Mbeki has been pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital…

…The former president complained about his heart at dawn…he was rushed to the hospital but failed to survive.”

The report even quoted a “close family source” who said: ‘we are in a very big shock, he was full of life last night. He suddenly complained about chest and was quickly rushed to the hospital but he couldn’t make it’.

Obviously pissed with the rumors that Mbeki died after a heart attack, the Thabo Mbeki Foundation lectured media practitioners on how to go about their informative duties.

“It is regrettable that some media outlets, including public broadcasters on the continent, have reported on the hoax as fact without reference to the Foundation or accredited South African Embassies and High Commissions in their countries.”

Mbeki Working on African Union Peace Assignments

With the above, the foundation asserted that Mbeki is alive, in good health and working for Africa.

“We would like to confirm that Mbeki is alive, in good health and working on African Union peace assignments.

“He is currently in Ethiopia facilitating peace talks between parties to the conflicts in the Republic of Sudan. There is therefore no need for concern,” stated the foundation.
