BuzzSouthAfrica learnt that the ruling party is set to investigate the vandalism of its campaign posters in Fish Hoek.
The party today, vowed close fence on the “hooligans” marring the
ANC provincial secretary Faiez Jacobs said the party “view such acts, particularly messages on the stickers pasted on our posters, as a sign of political intolerance and lack of respect for the democratic space which the masses of our people have fought and bled for.
As the ANC, we are going to begin an investigation, including looking into CCTV footage to quickly close the fence on such hooligans.
And, where such hooliganism has a tacit endorsement from a political party, we will request the IEC to impose punitive measures in line with elections codes that we have all committed ourselves to during these elections.”
The party’s Western Cape spokesperson Yonela Diko said ANC is yet to ascertain if the vandalism was an organised campaign or not. Nonetheless, the vandals are targeting poster with Zuma’s photo.
Meanwhile Police spokesperson Colonel Noxolo Kweza divulged today that a 36-year-old man was arrested in connection with the murder of an ANC member in Pretoria.
The ANC member died after he was shot outside Tshwane Events Centre on June 19 while ANC was about to announce Thoko Didiza as the mayoral candidate for the city.
