While entries and registrations are going on, the 2016 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon will be taking place on 17 and 18 of September respectively.
Participants are expected from all over the world as the Cape Town Marathon race offers the opportunity for participants from both South Africa and around the world to join the race and run through the beautiful city of Cape Town.
In addition, there will be a prize money of R2 million which is a record breaker in the prize money ever offered for a South African standard marathon.
The ambassador for the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon Elana Meyer says they are “already receiving huge international interest”.
The attractive prize money is not the greatest reward of participating in the marathon, the best part of the event is coming to Cape Town, enjoying an unobstructed view of the Mother City’s most amazing natural scenery, getting a taste of the local delicacies and getting to meet the local people.
Participants came from 51 countries around the world during last year’s marathon. The marathon was also graced by 37 elite athletes from 6 different countries competing for the grand title.
Eligible participants are encouraged to register now to experience the wonders of this annual event in a grand style.
Last year, Sanlam Cape Town Marathon registered a total of 15 844 participants in all the events held over the weekend, with a total of 5737 entrants in the 42.2km standard marathon.
Cape Town was a beehive of activities following this fantastic turnout in the Mother City for the event.
