Carol Nyazika and Lisa Chiriseri founded the African Women Association and later came up with the idea of African Women Awards. It’s a platform used to acknowledge the efforts of some of the hard working women in the continent.

A statement on the association’s website reads;

“AWA aspires to create the right conditions for the emergence of new African women who can stand up to the challenges of a modern world without diminishing the tenets of African values.”

Accordingly, Connie Ferguson scooped the Living Legend award; Terry walked away with the Star Power award, while Nomzamo got the most Promising Personality Award.

Renowned TV personality Nomzamo Mbatha was overwhelmed with the latest milestone in her career. Thus, she was full of thanks to all who made it possible.

“Where would I be, if not for Your Grace.” Overwhelmed and drowning in the fountain of gratitude. Thank you for the honour AWA.”

Multiple award-winning actress Connie added her gratitude, saying what a great way to end the year.

“And I am officially considered a living legend! What an honour! Thank you AWAfor the recognition! What a way to end my year! God is good!”
