Having said goodbye to her husband last Saturday, Celine Marie Claudette Dion was reportedly too heartbroken to attend his brother’s funeral.
The superstar suffered huge death losses last week. The Canadian songstress couldn’t stand her tears and devastation anymore after putting up an enormous public funeral service for her husband last Friday and as such, she decided to sit out the funeral service.
However the ‘My Heart Will Go On’ singer did attended his memorial service held at Salon Charles Rajotte in Repentigny, where the family was brought up. She was seen in company of her mother Thérèse looking really pale and spent.
59-year-old Daniel passed away just two days after his 73-year-old in-law René Angelil (Celine Dion’s husband) died of cancer too. Daniel, who is one of Celine Dion’s 13 siblings lost his battle with cancer on 16th January in Montreal hospital. He is Dion’s older brother. But this time, not with her three lovely kids.
Celion Dion’s husband Angelil was laid to rest on Friday at the Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal, where they were married in 1994. Angelil’s 47-year-old widow was flanked by her three children at his funeral. During the funeral, Celine Dion’s hit song ‘All The Way’ was heard at one point from loud speakers mounted in the venue.
Dressed in all black apparel, she was spotted with her five-year-old twin boys Nelson and Eddy. While her 14-year-old son Rene-Charles stirred up emotions with his touching eulogy to his father.
“Fifteen years is not a long time for a son to get to know his father,” he began, before trying to lighten the mood as he talked about sharing his late dad’s passion for golf, poker and “smoked meats”.
“You left me now with enough good memories of you to share with my younger brothers,” he added.
“I’ll make sure to pass on what I’ve learned from you. You are a tough act to follow… but I promise you here that we’re all going to live up to your standards, Je t’aime Papa.”
Celine Dion and Rene were married for 21 years. He died just two days before his much-anticipated 74th birthday. Dion emerged the teen star in the French-speaking countries years ago.
