Idols SA judge, musician and popular radio host Unathi Msengana has undoubtedly confirmed her departure from the public broadcaster.
Shortly after her Friday morning show on Metro FM, Unathi told fans that she will no longer work at the station.
Taking to Instagram on Friday morning, Unathi posted an image of herself as a child and captioned it; “Well that was my last show on Metro! Thank you for your love over the past decade”.
While Unathi has refused to provide further information on the matter, SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago also refused to confirm her departure from the station. Instead, Kaizer said the matter would be addressed in a bigger press release in the next few days. The new line-up will also be released with the press release.
Meanwhile, fans have reacted to Unathi’s post and sudden departure. Though they feel sad that she is leaving, they still wished her well in her future endeavors.
Unathi’s departure from the radio station comes more than a week after the shocking resignation of her former breakfast show co-host Glen Lewis after 22 years at the station.
After a successful career spanning more than two decades with the radio station, DJ Glen Lewis left Metro FM for Touch HD.
The radio DJ left Metro FM to join his former colleague Tbo Touch at his new online radio station Touch HD. The migration was confirmed by Touch HD spokesperson Lulu Ndevu who said that both Glen Lewis and Tim Modise joined the station.
Glen will take on the breakfast show at the digital radio station.
So far, the SABC has neither confirmed nor commented on who will replace radio host Unathi Msengana and her counterpart Glen Lewis on the show.
