Fortune smiled on a Soweto woman in her 50s who was employed as a factory worker as she won R20 million in the lottery through a life-changing ticket she bought at the price of R20. The woman bought her R20 winning ticket in Glen Ridge for the Saturday‚ 30 April draw.
According to lottery operator Ithuba, among other tickets in the draw, her R20 winning ticket was the only one that matched all six Lotto numbers and scooped the guaranteed jackpot which is a very rare situation.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that the “shocked and emotional woman” had kept her meagre R20 winning ticket inside her Bible after purchasing it.
When she heard the results of the draw‚ she said to herself ‘it had to be a big mistake’ that the numbers on her ticket somehow matched all six numbers from the draw.
When it dawned on her that she has become the latest millionaire in town, she was excited and thrilled that she will finally get to fulfill her plans of retiring early and her fairy-tale dream of acquiring a home by the sea. She also has plans of buying a house for her daughter too.
“This will transform my life‚” she said excitedly, struggling so hard to hold back tears.
In addition to the Soweto woman, Ithuba said it had another Saturday winner from a ticket bought at Cape Town’s Bonteheuwel Post Office in the Western Cape. The ticket won the sum of R1.5-million Lotto Plus jackpot‚ at the same draw.
There are no further details on this other winner yet.
Meanwhile, during last month’s draw on the PowerBall which can only be won by one ticket‚ the winning ticket happened to belong to a Pretoria resident who is expected to smile home with R21.4 million PowerBall jackpot. View details here.
