One of the victims of a fatal accident that happened on Monday afternoon has been identified as a man who was still enjoying the dividends of the proceeds from a big win as he was a national lottery jackpot winner.
The man was identified as 30-year-old Nhlanhla ‘Budha’ Dlamini who was lucky to grab a big win in the Lotto two years ago.
Reports streaming in say that Dlamini‚ who was a resident of Ngwelezane‚ had won the national lottery jackpot of a whooping R18-million in 2014.
The report added that prior to hitting jackpot‚ Dlamini had been a staff at a shisanyama‚ braaing meat who earned just R10 per customer.
A KwaZulu-Natal news report says the national lottery jackpot winner was killed on impact when his luxury Mercedes Benz crashed into a bakkie at a very high speed.
He gave up the ghost together with his passenger‚ while the driver of the bakkie and both passengers were taken to hospital in a critical condition.
On the same day, a 48-year-old man was killed in the morning after his bakkie rolled several times on Thabo Mbeki Drive in Potchefstroom.
Paramedics quickly responded to an emergency call received at 09h15 and immediately responded. The paramedics found the wrecked vehicle upright on the side of the road when they got to the scene.
From the analysis, it is understood that the driver lost control of the vehicle, which compelled it to crash into a residence wall, rolled multiple times and ejected the driver.
The accident victim was found lying lifeless beside his car and all efforts by paramedics to use CPR and some other advanced life support interventions to bring him back to life proved abortive.
