Proteas’ Kagiso Rabada is phenomenal, says honorable Zuma. He should inspire South African youths to participate in sport so as to build social cohesion, added Mr President.
President Jacob Zuma sent out his congratulatory message to the South African National Cricket Team fast bowler, Mr Kagiso Rabada.
Rabada bagged a record breaking six awards at the annual Cricket South Africa Awards.
He won The SA Cricketer of the Year, Test Cricketer of the Year, ODI Cricketer of the Year, SA Players’ Player of the Year, the ‘Delivery of the Year’ and the SA Fans’ Cricketer of the Year.
Rabada was questioned if he knew he would win so many awards in a TV interview on SuperSport.
Responding, he said: “No, not at all. I didn’t think so, at this stage of my life that this would happen. I feel like I’m dreaming now!”
Speaking about his most memorable moment of last season, Rabada said: “It’s tough to say because we are always playing all the time. So, you can’t really think about it. You play so many games.
But I guess when we won the (ODI) series in India. We never won there before. It was a really good time, I enjoyed that.”
Proteas Among World’s Best Cricket Team
Reacting to Rabada feat, an overwhelmed Zuma said: “We wish to congratulate this young talented man for his record breaking achievement.
His performance and dedication to cricket is phenomenal and should serve as an inspiration for our youth to participate in sport as part of nation building and greater social cohesion.”
President Zuma also praised the entire South African Cricket Team. He said the Proteas has represented SA well globally. They are continually among the best teams in the world of cricket, Zuma proclaimed.
