According to an announcement by Amp Events on Monday, American rock band Pixies will be having their first tour of South Africa in March 2017.
Formed in 1986 in Boston, Massachusetts, the Pixies are considered to be one of the most influential alternative rock bands of all time.
They have several anthems under their belt, including – Gigantic; Where Is My Mind; Here Comes Your Man; Monkey Gone to Heaven and many more.
While touring the beautiful terrains of SA, Pixies will headline the inaugural Rock on the Lawns music festival on the Festival Lawns at Carnival City, Jo’burg and will play under the stars at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Cape Town.
This makes it even more intimate for fans who will get to watch the band perform.
Amps Events announcement revealed that SA rock scene: Springbok Nude Girls; Prime Circle; aKing; Crash Car Burn; Shortstraw; The Sweet Resistance and The Robfather (DJ) will support the pixies at the Rock on the Lawns music festival at Carnival City.
The band will perform on the Carnival Festival Lawns, which is a premium outdoor setting perfect for large-scale music festivals.
The Pixies’ recently released album Head Carrier represents the band’s unique aural mix of surrealism, psychedelia, dissonance and surf rock. The 12-track collection was produced by Tom Dalgety (Killing Joke, Royal Blood) and recorded at London’s Rak Studios from mid-February through to mid-March this year.

Tickets will be available from 09:00 on 25th October 2016 at Computicket, priced from R495.
