It’s a done deal, our very own South African actress Pearl Thusi has been confirmed to play series regular on American series Quantico season 2.
The juicy news hit the waves when Quantico lead star Priyanka Chopra shared a season 2 cast members snapshot on her Instagram. Apparently, Thusi was right there, spotted among the newest cast.
Previously, Pearl’s manager Sarit Tomlinson confirmed that Pearl had a meeting with the producers of the series a few weeks ago. But, he couldn’t confirm that our girl has bagged a role on the American series.
Pearl Thusi will play Dayana Mampasi in the new season of Quantico. Dayana is a driven, disciplined, type-A lawyer who struggles to fit in though she seems to have it all. After graduating from Harvard top of her class, she practiced at an NGO for two years before joining her parents’ Boston firm.
Thusi joins series stars Priyanka Chopra, Jake McLaughlin, Aunjanue Ellis, Yasmine Al Massri, Johanna Braddy, Blair Underwood, and Russell Tovey for the new season.
The grand opening of second season of Quantico will be on 25 September, Stateside, with actor Blair Underwood also joining the cast. The premiere will be shown on ABC.
After her Quantico gig, Thusi will be making an appearance in the local biopic Kalushi – The Story of Solomon Mahlangu later in the year. Kalushi is directed by Mandla Dube and starring opposite a fresh-faced cast of Thabo Rametsi and Thabo Malema.
The Durban-born Pearl Thusi has appeared on numerous TV shows in South Africa, including Zone 14, Soul City, Rhythm City, Family Bonds, Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency and iCrew to mention but a few.
She had lead roles on long-running South African soap opera Tsidingo, as well as feature Kalushi – The Solomon Mhlangu Story.
