One of the alleged victims of an Nquthu teacher who allegedly filmed himself having sex with students, is gradually recovering after she reportedly attempted taking her own life at the weekend.
The Grade 11 pupil, who is also pregnant, tried to take her life by swallowing an overdose of sleeping tablets.
Speaking to reporters, the poor girl disclosed that she decided to end it all after she was humiliated and constantly mocked by community members.
Luckily, she escaped death but continued to throw up. Her parents subsequently rushed her to the Charles Johnson Memorial Hospital for medical attention.
She bitterly narrated:
“Since the sex video came out, residents in our area have been calling names, such as ‘isifebe incane’ who has no shame sleeping with such an old man. I tried not to put that in my mind, but I failed. I have been getting pressure from my parents, who keep saying I am a disgrace to the family.”
A male teacher at a high school in Nquthu made headlines last week after a sex video of him and some school girls went viral. The video went viral on social media after a group of schoolboys washing the teacher’s car found a memory card containing the videos.
The Nquthu teacher, who is still at large, is also accused of abusing five other female pupils believed to be aged 14 and 15 in a cottage on the school premise. Also he had each of the romp recorded.
Meanwhile, Kwzaulu-Natal MEC for Education Mthandeni Dlungwane has opened a criminal charge at the Nquthu police station against the teacher. This was after he visited the school on Thursday after learning about the video on Wednesday night.
He also vowed that the department will carry out further investigation after many learners pointed accusing fingers at other male teachers of sleeping with students.
Many schools in the country have been rocked by teacher-pupil sex scandal. In August, 2009, a 54-year-old Zululand Primary School teacher was arrested for allegedly raping a 13-year-old pupil in Enseleni Township near Richards Bay.
