SA Got Talent (South Africa’s Got Talent) is a country wide talent search, which airs on e.tv in search of South Africa’s next great talent act. The show features a variety of acts and talents of all ages, ranging from; singers, dancers, comedians, and other performers.
SA’s Got Talent is a TV Show under the Got Talent franchise created by Simon Cowell, registered to his company SYCOtv. The first show of its kind was a pilot which was made in the United Kingdom in 2005.
The first full series of the format was eventually called “America’s Got Talent”, which was released in the U.S on the 21st of June 2006.
SA’s Got Talent officially premiered on SABC2 on the 1st of October 2009, the network also aired the second season of SA Got Talent in 2010, until it moved to e.tv in 2012. e.tv premiered the third season of SA’s Got Talent on the 30th of August 2012, and has since been the official broadcaster of the show.
The running time on TV airs for sixty minutes, inclusive of commercials. The talent showcase happens live in front of the judges and audience. The show is usually hosted in various cities in South Africa and the faith of the individuals auditioning is dependent on at least a two yes votes from the judges.
During the show, some individuals never get to show the full performance of what they are capable of; as the judges could call it short by pressing the buzzer. If all three buzzers are pressed, then the performance will have to come to an immediate end.
Eventually, those who make it to the next round keep getting cut off by the judges, until they get to the semi-finals and the phone lines become available for the viewers to vote.
