ACSA (Airports Company of South Africa Limited) is a South African airport management company; which manages all the airports in South Africa and a number of foreign airports too. ACSA was founded in 1993, at this time, ACSA was owned by the government (under the ministry of transportation).
Before the Airports Company of South Africa was established as a public company, South Africa’s airports were owned and operated by the state. The establishment of the ACSA gave room to foreign and local investments. In April 1998, an Italian airports management firm (i di Roma) won a competitive bid to become the ACSA’s strategic equity partner; paying R819 million for 20% of the company’s shares.
G10 Investments, Telle Investments, Pybus Thirty-34, Up-Front Investments 64 and Lexshell 342 Investments Holding were also shareholders; together owning 4.2% of its shares.
