Rapper Nadia Nakai has once again been rebuffed as DJ Switch drops an all-female remix of his Now or Never hit.
However, some SA’s biggest female rappers, including Fifi Cooper, Ms Cosmo, Rouge and Gigi Lamayne featured on the track. The hit was dropped on August 9 in line with Women’s Day.
The rap song which recognised the hottest present and future local female rap game, caused some mixed reactions. Fans who knew her worth couldn’t help but notice that popular female MC Nadia Nakai did not contribute to the song.
In a similar incident, Nadia, made headlines late last year after she was snubbed from AKA’s Baddest all-female remix.
Thus, she reacted to that snub by releasing her own remix of the same track. Her remix took shots at the industry as she expressed her frustration at not being featured on the song.
Subsequently, she signed to Cassper’s Family Tree record label and spilled her thoughts in an interview with Slikour. She was all geared up against AKA and the ladies who featured on his track for snubbing her.
Nadia blatantly said it out loud that the women who featured on the song were no longer her friends.
“Now it’s like ‘Nadia. OMG. We all Kumbaya.’ Not now. None of them are my friends. None of them,” Nadia said.
Meanwhile, DJ Switch refused to comment on this snub during an interview on Wednesday. Instead, he referred the issue to Nadia’s management.
Nevertheless, Nadia’s management couldn’t clear the air either as they refused to comment any further on the matter.
Though the female rappers killed the song, we can’t just help but wonder what it would have been like if Nadia Nakai contributed.
