Former ANC MP Vytjie Mentor says she plans to lay charges against new Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane for lying against her.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, an apparently aggrieved Mentor said the new Public Protector’s claims that she [Mentor] had laid a complaint against Thuli Madonsela was deceptive.
Mentor insisted that she has been a die-hard lover and protector of Madonsela, wondering why she would lay charges against the former Public Protector.
“I was a whistle-blower. I was the first person to be interviewed by Thuli [Madonsela]. I have also been defending her on my Facebook wall. Why would I lay a complaint against her?” she asked rhetorically.
The former ANC MP admitted that she was one of the people who released an evidence on State Capture to Madonsela and was subsequently interviewed, she bluntly denied laying a complaint against Thuli for releasing an audio recording of her interview with President Zuma, as alleged by Busisiwe.
Former ANC MP Vytjie Mentor Slams Busisiwe
Sharing her thoughts and feelings on Facebook, Mentor slammed the Public Protector for deceiving the public, promising to approach the bar council over the matter. She also threatened to lay charges against the ‘liar’.
“I never complained to Mkhwebane about Thuli leaking any tapes. How can an advocate lie like this? I am heading to the Bar council and she will pay me hugely. I will be laying charges against her. This is so galling,” she wrote on Facebook.
Mentor, a famous whistle-blower, also vowed not to send anything to the office of the Public Protector.
“I will never, ever for the duration of Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s tenure send anything to her office. I will go to the courts. I will go to the human rights commission instead,” she said.
Sizing up Busisiswe’s attitude since she took over from Thuli, Mentor said she doesn’t think a “spy” would be a good protector, as Busisiwe tends to shield the state instead of the public.
Recently, Public Protector Busisiwe told reporters that former ANC MP Vytjie Mentor had laid charges against Madonsela for releasing the audio recording of Zuma’s interview with Thuli on the State of Capture.
