Metro FM sports presenter Robert Marawa is retaining his spot on his popular show after all said and done.
Marawa is expected to return to his sports show on Metro FM on Thursday evening following his victory over a stand-off with his employers.
The presenter has been absent from his regular radio slot for almost two weeks. As a result, his ardent fans have been left frustrated.
Notwithstanding, his absence did not pull the plug on the show entirely as SABC personalities Thomas Mlambo‚ Owen Hannie and Duane Dell’Oca have been taking turns in hosting the show. Marawa took the time off to fight for the independence of his show.
Sequel to his efforts to effect a change, the show will be re-launched on May 1 with a new sponsor. This comes after the departure of MTN. In addition, the popular rugby segment‚ the Room Dividers‚ is also expected to return.
Earlier this month, there was mixed feelings concerning Marawa’s fate at the radio station. This follows the widespread speculation that Metro FM sports presenter Robert Marawa will be leaving the radio station to join Tbo Touch’s online radio Touch HD, coupled with the fact that Metro FM was undergoing its annual presenter reshuffle.
The annual shakeup at the station hogged headlines over the past week. The Metro FM presenter reshuffle ruffled a few feathers with presenter Bonang Matheba tendering her resignation letter after three years with the public broadcaster.
While there were rumours that Bonang might be joining Touch HD, Robert fueled similar thoughts that he could be moving to the online radio.
Moreover, when Robert was absent from his regular radio slot for a while, fans wondered whether the sports personality was affected in the major reshuffle.
Nevertheless, Robert waved the speculation away, saying that Metro FM is his home.
