Photos: A Befitting Final Farewell For Kwaito Legend Mandoza


As much as we try to wish it away, kwaito legend Mandoza is gone forever and has on Friday received a befitting farewell from family and friends.

Generally, it has been an emotional day for the nation, especially for the family who had to bid a final farewell to their fallen hero who bowed to cancer On Sunday after few years of battle.

Mandoza has on Friday been laid to rest at Westpark Cemetery. As many described him as a hero, it’s only appropriate to bury him next to other fellow heroes.

Mandoza was known to bring people from all walks of life together with his music. Thus, kwaito legend Mandoza was laid to rest next to other icons including – Gugu Zulu; Flabba; Simba Mhere; Baby Jake and Eddie Zondi. This was after a funeral service was held at the Grace Bible Church in Soweto earlier today.

The fallen star’s funeral service was a befitting send-off filled with touching tributes from family and friends.

Speaking at Mandoza’s funeral service Mandoza’s widow‚ Mpho promised to keep his legacy alive. Furthermore, she was full of gratitude for the overwhelming support that she has received during this difficult time. She gave a touching speech, pledging her undying love for Mandoza.

“It’s been 18 years now‚ I love him and I will love him till I die. I know he will send me a ball of fire from heaven and I will raise our children‚” she said.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the 38-year-old musician was remembered by his counterparts; fans; family and friends at the Standard Bank Arena in Johannesburg.

The fallen kwaito star Mduduzi ‘Mandoza’ Tshabalala attracted a lot of people who came to celebrate his life with his family. Consequently, celebrities including Moshoza and Florence Masebe were present at the memorial service to show their respects for the star.
