Arnold Sports Festival Officially Opened By Arnold Schwarzenegger Himself In JHB


In a monumental event on Saturday, the Premier of Gauteng David Makhura together with former actor and governor in the United States of America Arnold Schwarzenegger have officially cut the red ribbon, declaring open the 2016 Arnold Sports Festival (Arnold Classic Africa) at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Generally known as the ‘Arnold Classic’, the annual multisport event has been named after the legendary bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger who was so excited to be back to South Africa after a long time (2001).

Smartly dressed in white sneakers and a blue golf-shirt, the renowned bodybuilder paid tribute to the beautiful city of Johannesburg as he addressed hundreds of fans who gathered outside the Sandton Convention Centre to listen to the living legend speak.

“I am also now here in this beautiful country and in this spectacular city,” he said.

Amid excited cheers from the crowd, Arnold assured them that their excitement will not be in vain as he said:

“You gonna see the most masculine man here, you gonna see the most powerful man here, you gonna see the fastest man here and you gonna see much more energy than ever before,” as he declared the event open.

The Arnold Sports Festival

The Arnold Sports Festival is an annual multisport event featuring numerous sporting events named after the legendary professional body-builder, actor and politician, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

This event is a four-day affair held every springtime in Columbus, Ohio, featuring a bodybuilding and fitness tournament and a three-day Fitness Expo.

Today, South Africa now has the honour of hosting this fun packed event as the inaugural event will be held in Johannesburg in May of 2016.

The event follows the footsteps of the original ‘Arnold Classic’, founded in 1989 and is now being held on all six continents.

The Arnold Sports Festival in Johannesburg will feature 48 different sports with 11,000 athletes participating. It promises to fun indeed.
