Veteran soldiers say they will take the law into their own hands if Hani’s killer is freed.
The uMkhonto We Sizwe Military Veterans Association today, warned South Africa’s judicial system at the Western Cape High Court that they will seize the administration of justice if Hani’s Killer, Janusz Walus is granted parole.
The veteran soldiers backed Justice and Correctional Services Minister Michael Masutha who applied for leave to appeal against the parole judgment which ordered the release of Janusz Walus.
BuzzSouthAfrica gathered that the veteran soldiers handed the Chief Justice a memorandum in which they demanded that Janusz Walus should not be released.
Speaking, Vuyani Mamani, a regional secretary of the association said “If we ever see him outside of jail again, then we will have to take the law into our own hands.”
Mamani warned that it’s certain the world would be shocked by their reaction if Walus is freed. “One thing is certain,” he said. “If Walus sees or walks the streets of SA, the world must wait for something that was never expected again.
Because that will take us back to what we avoided back in the 1990s when we went through negotiations,” he hinted.
Also speaking, Fumanikile Booi, a regional chairperson of the association related that the veteran soldiers are still pissed with the way the beloved leader was killed.
According to Booi, “the bullet that killed Chris Hani also affected Oliver Tambo” because Tambo who was the ANC President then, “died a few days later…he didn’t last. We had to bury him the following weeks after that…We are saying Walus didn’t just kill Chris Hani, he (also) killed our beloved President Tambo. “
