Just at the wake of the death of one of DA’s councilors, EFF leader Julius Malema stated that one of EFF bigwigs has received death threats from an unknown assassin.
EFF’s Malema mentioned this while sounding notes of warning to his party members not to get involved in the rising rate of political killings in the country.
Though Malema carefully withdrew her name, mentioned her office in his tweet. He said the provincial secretary received an anonymous phone call warning her to wear a bullet-proof vest
Fighters please be safe, the EFF Free State provincial secretary received an anonymous phone call warning her to buy a bullet proof.
A number of South African citizens, particularly politicians were killed in a politically linked assassinations.
At the late hours of Thursday, DA Councillor for Northern Cape Johannes Baaitjies was found lying lifeless by the road side, metres away from his car.
Report has it that Baaitjies, alongside his fellow councilors, was meant to be officially sworn in to council at the Kgatelopele municipality as the DA prepares to take hold of a once ANC controlled municipality.
He was however, shot twice in the head, once in the upper body, and dragged a distance away from his car before he was dumped and the DA says it suspects that the murder was politically motivated.
“The DA vehemently denounces any kind of prejudice and criminal activity based on political affiliation. The DA will not allow cowardly acts committed by faceless thugs to derail us from our efforts to govern in order to stamp out corruption, create jobs and deliver services to bring the change that moves South Africa forward again,” the party said in a statement.
The DA however, sent their heartfelt condolences to Baaitjies’ wife and three sons, as well as his extended family. “He will be sorely missed and it will not be easy finding someone of his capabilities to fill the gap that he has left,” the party added.
