ANC Youth League president Maine Collen has finally taken the lid off on his relationship with the Gupta family.

Coming clean on what his relationship with the family looks like, Collen said he maintains a good relationship with the family, adding that whether he visits the Gupta family mansion or not isn’t anybody’s business.

Answering questions at a briefing on Monday afternoon, the confident leader stated that there is no law preventing him from paying the wealthy immigrant family a visit.

As a matter of fact, the president said part of his work involves meeting top personalities and stakeholders in the country, including the Gupta family. So, he sees no reason why he would shun the family.

“If the Guptas are a problem to you, they are not to me. I engage them with many other stakeholders,” he said.

On whether he has been captured by the wealthy family or not, Maine said if meeting with stakeholders like the Guptas and various others constitutes being captured, then he is captured.

“If engaging stakeholders is being captured, then I am captured … but mainly I am captured by the responsibility I was given by the ANCYL,” he added.

Digging deeper into his relationship with the family, Maine, popularly called ‘Oros’ announced that the Guptas have invited him to attend the ANN7 South African of the Year Awards and that he’s going to attend!

He failed to confirm or deny whether the wealthy gave him gift or money during one of his visit to their mansion.

Earlier this year, Collen reportedly bagged R5.4 Million Bond From Bank Of India, which as related, does not offer home loans, but deeds office records.

Reports had it that the ANC Youth League president bought an R5.4 million home in Woodhill Estate last year after his transaction with the foreign bank. Another source confirmed that the Guptas financed the monthly repayment of the bond.

The ANC Youth League meeting focused on the disbandment of the provincial task team of the Eastern Cape, state capture and the Save South Africa movement among other issues.
