MTV reality TV star Clay Adler reportedly committed suicide last month at the age of 27.
The TV star who starred on eight episodes of MTV’s Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County in 2007 decided to take the easy way out of life by taking his own life while he was out with friends on March 25.
According to TMZ, Clay was on a shooting trip to the desert with friends when the unfortunate incident took place. While his friends were in the middle of firing, Clay reportedly turned the gun on himself. Consequently, he succumbed to his wounds in hospital on 26 March.
Meanwhile, at the time of his death, no drugs or alcohol were found in his blood. As an organ donour, Clay has already saved about five lives since his death. Doctors say he’s one of the highest donours as his inside was in a pretty good shape.
Clay’s father, Frank who confirmed the death was suicide, said there’s no apparent reason why he did it. However, he reportedly had a history of mental illness.
Friends and family honoured him with a paddle out at Newport Beach on 8 April. This was sort of significant because Clay was an avid surfer in his spare time.
An official statement from MTV expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
“We are saddened by the news of Clay Adler’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.”
Clay aspired to become a major part of the entertainment industry, according to the OC Register. “I’m hoping (the show) will kind of jump start it. I’m interested in the whole aspect, whether it be in front of the camera or behind,” Adler said in 2007 about starring on the MTV reality series.
He also appeared in TV movie The Fish Tank (2009) and one episode in Make It or Break It the same year.
Clay became good friends with Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence when he was trying to make a transition from reality star to actor. The two used to be seen around each other a lot when they were both auditioning in Hollywood. Thus, Jennifer has been left devastated as a result of his passing.
