Reports have it that another ANC ward Councillor candidate has been shot and killed.
As gathered, the ANC ward Councillor candidate was transporting children to school when he was attacked.
ANC KZN identified the victim as Bongani Skhosana. The Umzimwabantu municipality ward one candidate was shot in the car in front of the kids.
Confirming this, ANCKZN spokesperson Mdumiseni Ntuli wailed about the incident. And, summed-up that Skhosana’s death brought the number of ANC leaders killed in KZN in the last two months to 12.
Ntuli said it’s not yet certain whether the killing was politically motivated.
Earlier this month, ANC KZN formed a task team that will probe the killing of party members.
Then, the party’s Provincial Secretary, Super Zuma asserted that the killings confirms ANC’s worst fear. “Thuggish elements” that kill with impunity might be finding a home in the party structures, he said.
“As a result, we have formed a task team to investigate the underlying causes of these killings,” Zuma stated.
With the latest killing however, Zuma begged crime fighters to increase their visibility and strength security before election day.
He said the party is concerned about the increasing murders of its candidates for the upcoming election.
Killings Undermining Democratic Right of Voters
“What is more saddening is this coward act of the killing of our comrades in front of children. These killings do not only undermine the democratic right of voters to elect leaders of their choice. (They) are reversing the gains we have made in stabilizing the province of KwaZulu-Natal,” lamented Zuma.
Meanwhile, ANC has requested of members to stay calm and allow police investigate the crime. Nonetheless, the party sent its condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
Therein, it stressed that it’s embarrassing the killing happened on Nelson Mandela Day.
